The House He Drew

In our drawing class, the teacher assigned a project to all the students.

Draw your dream," the teacher said. "Draw where you want to live."

All the students started drawing. Some drew big villas with gardens. Some drew houses with cows. Some drew houses with paddy fields.

But one boy, Shuvo, sat quietly in the corner. He had only a small broken pencil and one old paper.

He drew slowly.

He drew a small house. It had only one door and one window. The roof was not leaking. The walls were strong. Inside, there was a small table, a small bookshelf full of books, and a small light that was on.

The teacher asked, “Shuvo, why did you draw such a small house? Your friends drew big houses."

SShuvo smiled and said, "Teacher, this is not a small house for me. This is a big house."

"Why?" the teacher asked.

"Because right now, our house roof is leaking when it rains. I cannot study at night because we have no light. And we have no table. I keep my books in a plastic bag so they don't get wet."

He pointed to his drawing. "In this house, I can read at night. My books will be safe. My mother will not worry about rain. For me, this is a palace."

The whole class became silent.

That day, Shuvo didn't just draw a house. He drew his hope.

Your little generous donation is like the roof for that house.

For you, it may be a small amount — for pens, pencils, or books.

For Shuvo, it is the walls that don't leak. It is the light that stays on. It is the table where he can finally write his future.

Be the reason a child's dream house becomes real.
